Agriculture Code - injury to trespassing animals

Here is a portion of an Article from San Angelo Standard Times that everyone should read.

Regarding the Agriculture Code: "The code addresses the issue of injury to trespassing animals, saying that anyone with a fence insufficient to keep animals out and who injures or kills the stray livestock — specifically, “a head of cattle or a horse, mule, jack, or jennet” — either with a dog or a gun, damages will be owed to the owner of the animal.  But even if the fence is sufficient to keep wandering livestock fenced out, it’s not OK to shoot a four-footed trespasser of the domestic livestock variety.  “There is no circumstance in Texas law that it is legal for you to kill another man’s horse or livestock — cattle, sheep, goats,” Williamson said."
